How to Define Case Study - When and How to Apply Them?To help your students come up with an idea on how to define case study, try to get them familiarize with the phrase. When they find it interesting, make sure that they get to read a sentence or two of a couple of cases. They can be found in books and websites. Also, you can ask them if they have any favorite ones.For your students, they would not want to read a lot of case studies to understand it thoroughly. So, what you can do is give them different kinds of case studies. There are certain conditions under which case studies can be used for the sake of teaching. For example, the school offers online classes, so it is necessary to have a resource or course based on online education. The same holds true for those who offer time sharing classes.There are also cases where the teacher has given such cases to the students as a special project or assignment. In this case, all the students take part in the project and then they look at each other and think of ways how they can apply the examples provided by the teacher. In such a case, as students the next step would be to create the final paper on how the teacher's examples were implemented.Just like in regular courses work, some of the students are more successful than others when it comes to implementing the resources. However, in these cases, the students should have a good understanding of the concepts or principles that are being discussed.In most cases, students would come up with creative and innovative ideas while working on a project. The Creative Symbolism Woven into Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein has been passed down for centuries and is still a widely known tale. This classic has become a common childhood tale, but in its’ day was a truly creative piece. Frankenstein challenges the common and standard beliefs of religion, race, creativity and even challenges what the mind cannot fathom as a reality, in the 1800’s. There a lot of symbolisms that I found while reading and trying to understand the content. Life in the 1800’s was definitely more closed-minded than today where imagination and diversity are encouraged to express our feelings and find our â€Å"individualities†. Religion was a widely believed way of life, assuming this era in time and setting of the story the characters followed Catholicism/ and or Christianity. This left no room for alternative ideals of creation of life and the imagination of other lifestyle paths. The story of Frankenstein helps contribute to the thought of how prejudices were common in this Era, how ethnicities and barriers between cultures determined how others perceived one another. From the beginning of Frankenstein, Shelley begins to paint a picture of prominence between social classes and this sets the tone for the story as the characters are introduced with their importance. Robert Walton, for example is the first character introduced as he begins to right to his sister while on his expeditions at on the open oceans. Case Vignette1: Jessica Jessica is sixteen years old, and is sent to the school counselor following concerns from her year level coordinator. Jessica is finding it difficult to concentrate in class, is continuously late to school, and often arrives to school disheveled and unkempt. The coordinator is concerned about what may be happening at home with Jessica, and that she may be getting involved in a notoriously bad circle of friends in the area known for drug taking and other delinquent activities. Although reluctant during the first few sessions to disclose anything much, Jessica begins to trust the counselor and opens up about her frequent drug use. She says she used to only smoke marijuana, but that now this had increased to weekly†¦show more content†¦Counselors are sensitive to the cultural diversity of families and respect the inherent rights and responsibilities of parents/ guardians over the welfare of their children/ charges according to law. Counsellors work to establish, as appropriate, collaborative relationships with parents/ guardians to best serve clients. Ethical trap possibilities: There being not enough information about the counselor in the case, to ascertain the possibility of a values or objectivity trap. Circumstantiality: Jessica is a minor but she is 16, which is a bit of a grey area between being a child and adult and depending on Jessica’s psychological development, the counsellor may fall into a Circumstantiality trap and procrastinate about informing her parents. Preliminary response: Jessica is a minor and her parents are stake holders in her well-being. Drug abuse is a major clinical and life issue and her parents deserve to be informed. Having said that, the counselor should discuss it with Jessica first and sensitively deal with her inevitable resistance. The counselor should inform her of her duty to take the parents into confidence and draw her attention to the limits of confidentiality and also the informed consent process that she must have gone through at the beginning of the therapy.
